Wilco is developed and crafted by pilots, but it is crucial to note that this information does not replace official data. A comprehensive collection of United States airport charts is accessible for offline use, alongside all airport procedures found in the airport data section.
Wilco offers a wealth of aviation-specific information. Users can initiate their journey by searching for an airport within the database and saving it as a favorite for offline access to the data. Features include METAR, TAF, D-ATIS (for select US Airports), NOTAM, time zone, sun and moon rise and set times, airport procedures, runway details, airport frequencies, a personal notes section, and decoded METAR, TAF, and NOTAM data for ease of reading and sharing. METAR wind data is intelligently split into vectors based on runway headings and displayed on the weather page. Users also have the ability to take notes specifically for airports.
In the most recent update, Wilco has introduced a 3D map feature for airports. This service allows users to preview approaches for specific runways and even request a "Show Around" view of the surrounding area. The map style can be customized to suit individual preferences.
The aviation map showcases airports, waypoints, airways, and navigational aids. With advanced functionalities on the map page, users can view live coordinates of their current location, speed, altitude information, real-time tracks on the map that can be saved for future reference. Users can select departure and arrival airports and choose appropriate procedures for SID, STAR, or approach - explicitly emphasizing that these procedures are not intended for actual navigation purposes. Moreover, the tool provides an approximate calculation of flight distance and enhances situational awareness by allowing users to add airways and waypoints for their route with customizable layers.
Wilco's application delivers weather charts tailored for aviation use, including significant weather indicators, winds aloft data, and satellite views with customizable options. Users have the convenience of saving preferred charts for offline reference in the future.
The briefing section furnishes METAR and TAF data for airports within a 25 nm range of your flight path. Additionally, runway data for departure and arrival airports, as well as NOTAM data, are included in the briefing reports which can be saved and printed as needed.
For enhanced usability, Wilco features converters for aviation calculations, holding entry calculations with detailed instructions provided, Weight and Balance tools to manage aircraft specifications by saving basic empty weight and moment details along with customizable stations. The application ensures sustainable Weight and Balance calculations are efficiently carried out.
Wilco integrates a Flight Computer capable of calculating climb, cruise durations with fuel consumption metrics, wind vectors, ground speed, true airspeed, calibrated airspeed among other vital variables related to flight operations. Additional tools in the flight section enable users to calculate VDP (Visual Descent Point), operate Wind Runway calculator functions, Feet Per Minute Calculator and much more.
